 When it comes to the use of zodiacs in astrology, I don't take an exclusionary or separatist approach, because from working with both #zodiacs for several years now, I have come to believe that the popular "either/or" dichotomy is a false one.  As #astrologers, I offer that we would be better served in taking a solutions-based approach with the aim of better understanding, thereby developing or evolving how we use these tools.  This is an informal talk I gave to the Association for Young Astrologers on 15 April 2018, presenting some contextual thoughts and foundational ideas around the interplay and use of the #tropical and #sidereal zodiacs.  Full video on Spica Astrology YouTube channel: https://youtu.be/eVy5qTYaumg?si=kSausflwoshtjHIo

 Looking at the annual mundane chart (one of several) for the UK in for the astrological year 2022.  The lagneśa represents the Monarch (Queen Elizabeth II at the time) and is Maṅgala conjoined Śani, showing death energy (Yama yoga). This Yama yoga in the 10H indicates problems in the administration appearing after loss related to the Monarch. This is emphasized with Su in Maraṇa Kāraka Sthāna in 12H conjoined Chandra as 4L, indicating loss or sorrow experienced by the people.    Su as the 5L in maraṇa kāraka sthāna (MKS) can indicate that the incumbent administration is losing major support from their own advisors and ministerial resignations from around the Prime Minister are likely, and also major loss in popular votes due to conjunction with Chandra.  The Kālasarpa Yoga (KSY) is in effect, indicatig the government of Prime Minister Boris Johnson will be in gridlock and untenable circumstances for at least half the year (Apr 2022 - Oct 2022). CURRENT ERA CHART  Below is the Current Era chart for 9 September 1921, 23:13:41 (-05:00) set for Washington, DC, USA.  As stated previously, the conjunction of Saturn and Jupiter occurs in Virgo, so this Era chart indicates a roughly 300-year period in which the world will progress through the paradigm of Virgo: consumerism, business, resource yield, resource access, environment use and optimization, and all sciences related to these fields. Virgo contains four planets: Rāhu, Saturn, Jupiter, and Mercury. Jupiter focuses on quality and integrity of outcomes, whereas Mercury brings a focus on material exchange, measures, and quantity optimization or yield. There are eleven such conjunctions in the current Era.  The current Era is marked by the Saturn-Jupiter conjunction in Virgo while Ketu was in Pisces in 1921.  The evolution of the world therefore in this Era is through the paradigm of Kanya: consumerism, business, resource yield, resource access, environment use and optimization, and all sciences related to these fields.  D1. Whichever astrological cycle we study, whether it pertains to an individual or the world, it is important to do so with some proper context. When we look at human history, we see that human beings on the cusp of moments of big change experience and express great anxiety and tend to become apocalyptic. However, from a higher or more absolute perspective, which we often have in hindsight, we see these times of change pregnant with reason and meaning. In the world today, we appear to be in one of those moments of history, between uncertainty and  potential. The aim of this article is to provide proper context and meaning for what is happening to us today, by exploring one technique.  A. It is difficult to find a solution to inequality (with consensus) because every mind perceives inequality differently. To find a real workable solution to inequality therefore wise men have prescribed all with firstly an equanimity within oneself. And they called this state of equilibrium or equanimity Sattva, which naturally is the default state of everything as even the net flux of life is always in equilibrium. This is how Nature is. In practising reading (and adhoc translating) Sanskrit as part of studying Jyotish, I am reading some astrological traditional texts and contemplating them a bit. Rectification refers to the process of analysis and testing by which an astrologer confirms, arrives at, or in some way determines the birth time for a person. A time of birth is an important requirement before having an astrology consultation because it allows the astrologer to look at a chart of astrological symbolism that is unique to you. This significantly improves the interpretive and predictive relevance that the astrologer is then able to extract from it for you. I require all first time clients to have a Rectification consultation as due process. In this blog post, I endeavor to explain one of my reasons for doing so and some insights I have understood surrounding this matter of "birth time".
